Necessary Documents for Citizenship Application

The original documents are required, but only copies are submitted. Please note that the documents will not be returned. For foreign documents, a certified translation and legalization or apostille may be required.

The following documents are required, if applicable:

• Passport
• Residence permit
• Curriculum vitae (for those over 16 years old)
• Passport photo (for those over 16 years old)
• Birth certificate
• Parents' birth certificates
• Marriage certificate
• Transcript from the family book
• Spouse's birth certificate
• Children's birth certificates
• Spouse's death certificate
• Divorce decree
• Proof of spouse's nationality
• Proof of maintenance obligations for former spouses or children from previous marriages or relationships
• Proof of custody
• Adoption certificate
• Proof of quota refugee status
• Current school certificate or certificate of enrollment
• Proof of vocational training started or completed
• School leaving certificate
• Four transfer certificates
• Certificate of passing the B1 language exam
• Certificate of naturalization test completion
• Employer's certificate
• Last three salary statements
• Last three salary statements of the spouse
• Pension notice
• Parental allowance notice
• Notices from the employment office, job center, social welfare office, or housing benefit office
• Income statements for the specified years
• Business evaluation of the last few months
• Restaurant license or business registration
• Proof of health, long-term care, occupational, and disability insurance, as well as old-age provision (pension history)
• Certificate from the landlord
• BAföG notice
• Declarations or affidavits

Not all the documents listed here are necessary in every case. This list is not exhaustive; additional documents may be requested depending on the situation.
